Alexis is an incredible writer and was able to tap into the tone we were hoping for with a drip campaign we created. I would definitely recommend her.

As our copywriting and storytelling consultant, Alexis has jumped in feet first and taken true ownership over her projects. Her mastery of informal, yet professional communication along with her careful eye for editing has made her a valuable part of our growing team, playing the role not only of copywriter, but consulting editor as well.

When tasked with her first project, to conceptualize, research, and copywrite our very first Visit.org cookbook, Alexis took the project and ran with it. We used this cookbook as a perk for our successful crowdfunding campaign (raising $15,000), as well as a welcome gift for our new subscribers, allowing us to increase their communities and reach potential new customers.

Rather than simply stopping at composing some pithy recipes, Alexis created illustrative descriptions of each region and organization with which each recipe was associated, a description of each dish and its cultural significance, as well as a “bonus” section for each recipe that included anything from regional table manners and how to make a toast in the local language, to composing the perfect, regionally-appropriate playlist by which to serve the prepared dish.

When Alexis walked into my second grade classroom, I knew I had a child with personality. She was always ready with an answer, a story, a suggestion, a comment.... She was what my grandfather would call a ‘character.’ At the age of 7, she carried herself with the confidence and maturity of a much older child. Alexis was, and continues to be, dynamic and funny! I have had the pleasure of watching her grow over the years and she has continued to amaze me.

Alexis is one of those rare people that a person may come across just a few times in one’s career. As an employee, colleague, and teammate, she’s got it all.

Her work is extraordinary, she’s an amazing team player and she is an absolute pleasure to be around. We have hired well over 1,000 people over the last 20 years and Alexis is definitely among the top five best hires ever.

And she’s certainly the most gifted writer I’ve ever known.

Lex brings a developed palette of skill, organization and enthusiasm to her work at Roadmonkey. She has the laser focus of a general under artillery fire and the positive disposition usually seen only in free-range dolphins and the founders of Instagram.

At Roadmonkey, we asked her to figure out how to best improve our Facebook and social media interfaces using free apps and available tools. She did. We asked her to research and compare the costs and benefits of various online fundraising platforms, analyzing what they provide, at what level of complexity vs ease of use, and to factor in the fee structure per donation that each platform employs. She did. We then asked her to manage our relationships with non-profit organizations Roadmonkey teams with around the world to build sustainable, positive-change projects in Vietnam, Tanzania, Peru, Nicaragua, Patagonia, Hawaii and North America. She did.

Lex likes to own her projects. And to use a football metaphor, she does very well when she’s got the ball, there’s 2 minutes left on the clock and she needs to score a touchdown to win the game. I guess she’s a bit like Tom Brady - wait, no, I mean Eli Manning - in that regard. We enjoy relying on her to deliver winning solutions.

First, Alexis is just a delight. Professional, courteous, funny and dependable, she’s an outstanding team player. Alexis sees the big picture, understands and executes strategy, and exercises super judgment day in and day out. But what makes Alexis really special are her gifts as a writer. She has the ability to balance an informal tone without compromising the reader’s perception of professionalism, something few can do. If Alexis was a stock, I’d buy. The sky’s the limit.

Within weeks of being hired, Alexis was transforming our communications strategies from the ground up. She is a versatile talent. She can design the strategy, write the copy, trouble-shoot software, find the right vendor, analyze metrics and come up with new solutions. She gets it done – and she makes it fun.

Alexis was a great teammate and thought partner. As her supervisor, I enjoyed watching her take on new challenges and surpassing expectations. From extensive copywriting and blogging to content management and email marketing, Alexis excelled in her role at CCS, and quickly became a respected and knowledgeable member of the organization. She was talented at not only sculpting the voice of the organization but tactically making sure the voice was implemented. She was an expert project manager as well.
